The first all-female crew who sailed the 58-foot Maiden in a world race three decades ago and is now sailing through Santa Barbara with a mission to educate girls.
“Anything is Possible” is painted on the side of the boat which proved true as the Maiden and crew led by Captain Tracy Edwards finished second-place in the “Whitbread Round the World Race” in 1989-1990.
The boat arrived in the Santa Barbara Harbor on Sunday from Monterey and spent time with young female sailors at the Santa Barbara Yacht Club raising awareness of education and equality.
The Maiden and its original crew were recently featured in a documentary about their historic voyage.
The Maiden will sail to Marina Del Rey on Tuesday. Learn more at https://themaidenfactor.org/
