If you have lived in Santa Barbara county for more than a few years, EVERYSINGLE time is gets windy the power flickers. Santa Barbara / Goleta has some of the worst power distribution. So not uncommon for the power to flicker or shut off without warning. Our power transmission lines run along the foothills so fire / wind greatly affects it.
In Goleta near DP, half a dozen hard power “flickers”. And no, this isn’t a normal wind thing. We have had way more wind in the past with no issues. Been here 6 months and no issues… Kidding. 3rd gen SB.
Grab some ice. Protect your thanksgiving food.
Isn’t anyone curious as to why SCE DID NOT de-energize the power lines in the high-wind area? I mean 82mph in Montecito and that’s okay with them? The fire is burning ever closer to the super high voltage distribution lines. It’s okay to leave those running? SCE DID notice us about maybe turning off the power but did not. Seems like they don’t know what the hell they are doing. Time for the State of CA to take over the power companies.
1. They wanted to turn iff in goleta/gaviota area
2. Montecito was not that area
3. Its on fire, what is energized lines going to do more? Firefighter safety, they turn em off
4. Please tell me what you know as to the start of this fire? Cause so far power lines have not been listed
5. Your kidding to think the government would do it any different
6. Sit down arm chair quarterback, let the professionals work
Fast moving Tea Fire was Person-set arson by students trespassing on private property. Power stayed on. Diplomatic immunity or some incomprehensible ‘reason’ for no consequences from elected DA for disruption of thousands of lives, and lifelong PTSD. Those spared, God-saved Westmont students locked in the gym encircled by fire. Those Cold Spring School children james 15 to any padding vehicle to move them to safety within 10 minutes. Hundreds of homes destroyed. And no consequences? Lucky there aren’t more fires.
9:29 a.m. Who is this “they” that doesn’t want us to know? What is this obsession with believing that the powers that be are hiding the truth? Here is an article that examines the causes of fires in CA: https://www.latimes.com/california/story/2019-10-29/how-do-wildfires-start Very few are arson. But none of these facts will stop this sort of paranoia and conspiracy theory.
