Earlier there had been a call of 30 to 40 Juveniles in the area 800 Block of State street yelling possible Fight Brewing..

SBPD and Probation on scene…Another one ran from DLG and Anacapa into the parking lot of 24 Hour Fitness HMJ 16 years old wearing a flannel shirt and shorts.
Heard there were others East Bound on DLG..

Hmmm, all Junior High Schools had a minimum day today… probably best to keep them in school.
Right, 3:09?!? Seems like every other “early release” these kids are brawling on State St.
What ever happened to “reverse” minimum days? I graduated a dozen years ago and after that kid got stabbed and killed downtown, they made it so that you go in to school late and get out at regular time (instead of getting off early). Ain’t no kids getting up early to brawl. Maybe they should go back to that!
Not just that but they also are supposed to stagger school schedules so that multiple schools do NOT have the same minimum days.
I think that on minimum days the police should have a foot patrol presence downtown. I would love to see a larger presence in general, with even a sub office on state street somewhere, because that will decrease all of this drama!
And why don’t these youth congregate and cause fights in normal release days?
Are you saying their parents expect them home to do their homework or that thes3 kids coaches are looking for them after 3?
The parents should discipline their children, this behavior is unacceptable.
It’s one thing to good off, but violence is unacceptable.
The Police were near by the kids were being watched you cannot do anything till they break the law though..
JH and HS have late start Thursday every Thursday morning. Yesterday was a minimum day so teachers could collaborate across content area and grade level. This happens about twice a year. And, yes, I would hope the District was in contact with police regarding the minimum day and the need for larger police presence downtown.
