On Friday, December 6, 2019, Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Detectives arrested two additional suspects from the Isla Vista home invasion robbery in November. Through their investigation, detectives identified the two suspects who held the victims at gunpoint during the home invasion.
Sheriff’s Detectives authored arrest warrants and three search warrants that were served in San Francisco with the assistance of the San Francisco Police Department. The search warrants were served at the homes of each of the suspects and at the home of the registered owner of the vehicle that was used to flee the area after the robbery. The owner of the vehicle was not arrested.
As a result of these search and arrest warrants, several items related to the robbery were recovered and booked as evidence. A minor whose identity cannot be released was booked at the Santa Maria Juvenile Hall for violations of 459 PC (residential burglary), 236 PC (false imprisonment), 211 PC (robbery), 422 PC (criminal threats), and 182(a)(1) PC (conspiracy to commit a crime). 18-year-old Gavin Rapin of San Francisco was booked at the Santa Barbara Main Jail for violations of 459 PC (residential burglary), 236 PC (false imprisonment), 211 PC (robbery), 182(a)(1) PC (conspiracy to commit a crime), and 209(b)(1) PC (kidnap for the purpose of robbery).
