The Santa Barbara County Board of Supervisors selected Second District Supervisor Gregg Hart as Chair for 2020. Supervisor Hart committed to, on a monthly basis, devoting time on the Board’s agenda to highlight different aspects of emergency preparedness and response.
“With the recent two year anniversary of the Thomas Fire and debris flow, we are reminded how frequently we have experienced disasters locally. Preparation is key and I plan to use my position as Chair to assist our residents in preparing themselves and their families in the case of an emergency or natural disaster in our region,” stated Supervisor Hart.
To kickoff this endeavor, Supervisor Hart invited Dani Anderson, Executive Director of the Independent Living Resource Center, to discuss emergency preparedness as it relates to those with disabilities and seniors. “I applaud Supervisor Hart’s commitment to this issue,” stated Anderson. “Emergency preparedness as it relates to those with disabilities and seniors is not one size fits all.”
The Independent Living Resource Center’s mission is to promote independent living and full access for individuals with disabilities through advocacy, education and action.
