Santa Barbara County District Attorney Joyce E. Dudley announced [Tuesday] that charges have been filed against Eric Mauricio Ramirez-Aguilar, a 39-year-old resident of Santa Barbara County. Mr. Ramirez-Aguilar is charged with two felony counts of gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated, one count of fleeing the scene of an accident that resulted in death and one count of driving under the influence causing injury. Attached to the charges are various special allegations for fleeing the scene after committing the offense of gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated, personally inflicting great bodily injury and causing death or bodily injury to multiple victims.
On February 11, 2020 Mr. Ramirez-Aguilar was arraigned on the complaint and pled not guilty. The case is next set for Preliminary Hearing Setting in Santa Barbara Superior Court at 8:30 a.m. on March 9, 2020 in Department 12.
