The Sheriff’s Treatment Program, Success Stories Curriculum is again finding creative ways to support the Santa Barbara Bucket Brigade in the defense against COVID-19. The Santa Barbara Bucket Brigade, born in the aftermath of the Montecito Mudslides, has continued to donate their time, energy, and money toward assisting our community through hard times and crises.
In response to the coronavirus pandemic, they have been supplying masks and face-shields to first responders and frontline healthcare workers throughout the County. The inmates enrolled in the Success Stories Curriculum have volunteered to help them by putting together the face-shields and cutting out the fabric for face masks with the Bucket Brigade providing the materials.
The Bucket Brigade, in order to continue supplying essential PPE to the community, have recently challenged their followers to raise $75,000.00 to support the cause and purchase needed supplies.
Ernesto Solis, a licensed barber and Success Stories participant, offered to donate his skills to help reach this goal by providing haircuts in exchange for donations to the Bucket Brigade.
Several Sheriff’s Office staff, including Sheriff Bill Brown, have already participated in this fundraiser with $325 raised so far.
