I hope they test all the people living in this camp and then clear out the camp and move the people to a safe place where they can be taken care of. Living in the bushes along our highway is not safe for anyone in the time of a pandemic. SB/Goleta residents all along the highway are put in danger with covid positive homeless people roaming about.
So – all the taxpayers work like hell to keep this community safe – while a few individuals decide the risking the entire public’s safety is incidental to their immediate “needs”. How far is this going to go ??? Why are we paying taxes at all ?? Empathy is NOT stupidity !!
This county has extreme wildfire vulnerability. If our houses burn and we lose family pictures, memorabilia & heirlooms, tax records and everything we worked for, the reason doesn’ t matter. We insure against natural causes. Human excuses, however pitious, should be tolerated. Our pleasant climate draws vagrants & illegal camping to a greater extent than most. It needs to be consistently and rigourously discouraged.
“taken care of”? Isn’t that their job, or failing that, the job of their families?
These camps NEED to be removed and kept clear. They are a threat the the health and safety of the community. Lives are at stake. Billions of dollars of property is at stake. Where are our officials? They should immediately, using the same authority they leveraged for Covid19, clear every single encampment and send every single one of these bums packing. I dont care where they go, but they cannot be allowed to camp and endanger the lives of the community. They must be cleared!
