Update by edhat staff
The Santa Barbara County Fire Department has issued an evacuation warning for the Vieja Drive and Calle las Brisas Ave area.
A brush fire was reported near Calle Las Brisas and Mockingbird Lane area just before 11:00 a.m. This is in the More Mesa area of the Goleta Valley.
Firefighters and a helicopter responded to the area to attack a growing fire in mild to medium brush.
As of 12:30 p.m., the fire is estimated to be between 5 and 7 acres. Ground and aircrews are making good progress and the fire activity has diminished significantly, according to Captain Daniel Bertucelli.
There are three different spot fires that are being pushed through the grass by a moderate onshore wind towards heavier vegetation and eucalyptus groves that are backed up against some homes.
The evacuation warnings are still in place and should be lifted soon as firefighters gain more control of fire.
This article will update with more information as soon as it becomes available.

Does anyone have ore information on a brush fire near More Mesa? It’s near Calle Las Brisas, lots of smoke in the area.
Thank you, firefighters, for saving those beautiful trees.
We could smell the smoke over here, a few blocks east of The Old Mission. Def not the Junipero Plaza house fire smoke . . . Much more like wildfire.
Any time you smell acreage burning in Santa Barbara, if there’s any sort of wind (or not), get your go bag(s) ready. Plenty of people thought Sycamore Cyn Fire, Painted Cave Fire, Tea Fire, Jesusita Fire, Gap Fire (you get the picture) weren’t “that big of a threat” . . . at first.
We could smell it here on upper De Lavina . Was surprised when we found out it was so far away. Glad it’s under control . I think we should all go to the bar tonight and celebrate.
Any current updates? Is it under control?
Yes read the updated article above.
3 acres are currently burning in the area. Doesn’t appear to be that big of a threat.
It’s breezy here near Turnpike and Calle Real, which concerns me. I can see and smell smoke to the south.
I’m finally hearing sirens. A helicopter is overhead.
Roger?
Original call was at 10:52 a.m. at Mockingbird Lane and Calle Las Brisas in the More Mesa/Noleta area. Several engines and a helicopter is in the area.

Very smoky…Puente, to More Mesa.
Lots of fire, police…
No size up details but hearing 2nd alarm about 1/2 hour ago and now Montecito staging…sounds like they slowed it down. Scanner traffic not very busy.
They have dozer line working and looks mostly like hand crew work.
Thanks for jumping in Tagdes, appreciate it!
Ah.. So our old motocross track is going to be visible now.
Good times…..
Releasing several units including Copter as they contained the only area of real concern which was the larger trees.
