The edhat staff and community are wishing Roger the Scanner Guy tons of love as he sails into a new chapter of life, retirement.
Last week Roger announced to the edhat staff that he is retiring to focus on a healthier lifestyle. We could not be more supportive of his choice as Roger will always be part of the edhat family.
For the past 11 years, Roger the Scanner Guy has been a frequent contributor reporting on everything from a fast-moving wildfire to a dog stuck in a storm drain. He would listen to local scanner traffic and was the first in the area to report on major occurrences. He also wrote a column three times a week, the “Scanner Reports,” summarizing daily scanner traffic and regaled edhat readers with sometimes wild and heartwrenching stories from his past.
Roger has also been a strong advocate for the disenfranchised, lending his voice for those in the community that are less fortunate than others. He has a big heart and isn’t afraid to get emotional with readers.
From the bottom of our hearts, we thank you Roger for all your contributions over the years. You helped readers become more actively engaged with one another and especially during scary fires, your reports most likely saved the lives of those who were in danger.
Show Roger some love in the comment section and thank him for the long-standing contribution he’s made to our community.
What does this mean for edhat? Edhat has always been a community effort with readers and contributors and we’ll continue doing that. We encourage our readers to continue reporting what they see and hear in their local area to keep everyone informed. If any reader is interested in contributing to edhat on a regular basis, email us at ed@edhat.com.
Additionally, we still have unisex Roger the Scanner Guy t-shirts available for a limited time only. These are limited edition and are selling out quickly so be sure to get yours now. Shop online here.
