A vehicle rolled over and crashed on Upper State Street narrowly missing a restaurant patio on Thursday afternoon.
At 3:11 p.m., Santa Barbara County firefighters assisted by Santa Barbara City firefighters and AMR ambulance responded to the intersection of State Street and Highway 154 at the boundary between Santa Barbara City and unincorporated county.
Crews found an older model Volkswagen convertible had left the roadway and rolled onto the sidewalk crashing into a retaining wall, narrowly missing the outdoor dining patio at Palapa Mexican Restaurant.
The driver was trapped and required extrication before being transported to Cottage Hospital with minor injuries.
No one in the restaurant or on the sidewalk was injured.
The cause of this incident is under investigation.

Maybe the driver believed Palapa’s had roll through service.
How do they get their driver’s license ??!!!
