Santa Barbara County Firefighters stopped the forward progress of a 15-20 acre brush fire in the Santa Maria Valley on Monday.
At 2:13 p.m. crews arrived in the area of Black Road and Dutard Road near Tanglewood for a wind-driven grass fire at a moderate rate of spread.
Crews immediately began hose lays to knock the fire down and made good enough progress to be able to cancel aircraft and dozers. The fire blew towards an agricultural field and was able to put itself out.
There were no structures threatened and no injures. The cause is under investigation. There were downed power lines in the area but the official cause has yet to be determined.
