As reported in Edhat on December 4 by Chuck McPartlin, the Geminids meteor shower was expected to peak on December 13 and 14.
For us in Santa Barbara we couldn’t confirm that for December 13 due to overcast skies, but late during the following evening the clouds dissipated and a few dozen “shooting stars” were to be seen.
Not exactly a “shower,” but enough to make it interesting on a cold night. Here is one streaking through Orion’s belt shortly after midnight.
