The Santa Barbara County Public Health Department (PHD) reported 13 deaths due to COVID-19 on Wednesday.
Twelve individuals were over 70 years of age and one was between 30-49 years of age. Eleven had underlying health conditions and seven were associated with outbreaks at congregate care facilities. Seven resided in Santa Barbara, four in Santa Maria, one in Goleta, and one in Lompoc.
The county has now lost 316 people to the virus since March of 2019.
PHD also reported 187 new COVID-19 cases with 1,231 active cases. Of those there are 167 hospitalizations including 47 in the intensive care unit (ICU).
The county is reporting 15.8% of ICU availability.
