  1. No 101 camping or fires. The side of the highway is not a freaking campground. Instead of building them free homes why not give them vouchers to stay two weeks at a time at real camp grounds where they will have access to showers/toilets/fire pits, since they love to start fires and a general store for food. Or they can sign up at city college for their new work training program although I highly doubt our local bush dwellers are interested in working, ever.

  2. Make sure the county sheriff and the city police don’t do anything with the homeless vagrants that are camped out all over on the freeway let them jeopardize the safety of all the citizens and just keep burning things and catching things on fire happens all the time -law-enforcement and our officials need to step it up

  3. The question is: whose safety is the priority? The tax payer citizens, or the ne’r-do-well scofflaws lurking in the bushes? If there are 2,000 of them, how many could be fitted into Gaviota State Beach Park? I just tried to find out online how many spaces there are there but of course, it being a government website, that basic information was not accessible. I vote give them campsites, not hotel rooms. And let them duke it out Lord of the Flies fashion. But NOT on the 101 where they can emerge to forage from our yards and light the bushes on fire.

  4. The problem is the homeless population here is totally enabled. Free groceries, meals, medical, general assistance cash, food stamps, social security, and cash from pan handling. And authorities aren’t making it uncomfortable enough. This is a lifestyle choice. It isn’t going to go away period. When I was a child my parents used to point out the bums under the Fig Tree. Threatening that was going to be my future if i didn’t wise up. In high school they were a source for drugs or to buy our alcohol. These people are smart and crafty, not victims.
