We could have elected different leaders in the last election too. This is what the majority of Santa Barbara voters want so we will get more of it, lots more.
That’s why Newsom has got to go… Wait – “Come on man, but that’s Pelosi’s nephew!” We need leadership with backbone and not “woke” puppets like King Newsom. Starts at the top with (their) leader – “Come on man…”
It’s not just (liberal) current city council, here’s a taste of CalLibs:
California Senate Minority Leader Shannon Grove texted me this morning about Senate Bill 357 and 519. SB 357 would legalize prostitution and ban the “arresting their supervisors, trainers or recruiters.” Concerning SB 519, she also listed several psychedelic drugs and said that it would no longer be illegal. “This bill would make lawful the possession for personal use, as described, and the social sharing, as defined, of psilocybin, psilocyn, dimethyltryptamine (DMT), ibogaine, mescaline, lysergic acid diethylamide (LSD), ketamine, and ecstasy (MDMA/molly), by and with persons 21 years of age or older. The bill would provide penalties for possession of these substances on school grounds, or possession by, or sharing with, persons under 21 years of age.”
Byzantium-Amen! Time to turn over these four city council seats to some people with guts to clean up this city. Vote in November if you are sick & tired of this BS. Bye bye mayor & all her cronies.

How do you get change ? You appeal recent court decisions for one. You listen to Roger, the Scanner Guy and demand local legislators fix the Lantermen-Perris loopholes that prevent mental case lockdowns. You beef up the public guardians office and impose more public conservatorships that allow the court to make decisions for those who cannot or refuse to make better decisions for themselves, and how put other peoples lives and property in peril..
You take away the non-profit welcome mat. You learn from best practices in other communities who have not established themselves as vagrant magnets. You establish rules and create community patrols. Vagrants come here by choice; make them make choices to move away. Their preferred lifestyle is not tolerated here.
You stop letting vagrants live by a separate system of justice that you do not allow property based residents to violate. You get tough on crime and put everyone on notice who comes here with a different agenda what the immediate consequences will be.
You stop funding Homeless Inc and divert those millions of lost dollars wasted every year that has only grown this problem along with their own paychecks, and convert those wasted Homeless Inc dollars into building more prisons and lock down care facilities. You send a new message that Santa Barbara is no place for vagrant camps for any reason. You take this to the mat this time, and not sell out to specious PR threats. Many. many cities are looking for the same solutions to this scourge – band together.
Stop playing games with re-naming the problem. Stop putting all offenders in the same category and triage out the worst offenders for immediate exclusion. File amicus briefs in support of any other community also looking for judicial relief. Reject the voices of “progressive” defeatists.
Your strategic error Sacjon, is lumping everyone into the same category. Which is exactly why nothing has changed. Do better than that – even Homeless Inc (yes, it is real and funding traces it identity) recognized today the more effective denomination is to consider different needs and responses the have-nots, the can-nots and will-nots. The will nots are the first to be dealt with – the 20% who cause 80% of the problems category – those that can also be called grifters and con artists. Thank you for providing a full spectrum of opinion on this topic.
Correction PitMix: these are not ‘liberals” who keep winning. They are city employee union-backed candidates in a town where government is the largest employer. Current city council members give “liberals” a bad name, if this in fact is their real agenda – fostering crime, degradation of quality of life, sabotaging the local non-government economy, fiscal irresponsibility, and administrative mismanagement.
Yeah, because that is liberal agenda. Eyeroll. Are you saying that Trump states and Trump CA counties don’t have crimes, or worsening quality of life, or poor economies, or fiscal irresponsibility, or admin mismanagement? They have the same crap, but they just don’t care about people suffering.
