The victim in this collision has been identified as 30-year-old Hunter Hernandez of Ventura County.

A motorist has died following a traffic collision near the Mission Street exit on Highway 101 southbound Wednesday.
After 8:00 p.m., emergency personnel responded just south of the exit and discovered a white sedan had struck the center median, then spun the other way across the highway lanes and collided with a tree on the right side of the roadway.
The driver and sole occupant of the vehicle was pronounced dead at the scene. Their identity has not been disclosed pending the notification of next of kin.
There were no other vehicles involved. The cause is under investigation.

Firefighters are on the scene of a vehicle rollover on Highway 101 southbound at Mission
The city needs to have Caltrains install freeway rail guards in areas that have trees next to the roadway. We have had numerous local freeway fatalities where a car leaves the roadway and impacts a tree.
