The City of Goleta is pleased to report that 10,000+ free at-home COVID-19 tests were distributed to community members, Saturday February 5th, at the West Wind Drive-In Theatre (907 S Kellogg Ave). The Point of Distribution site was scheduled to open at 10:00 a.m. but due to the eager line of cars lined up early and ready to go, volunteers began passing out test kits at 9:15 a.m. They continued to distribute the test kits to the steady stream of cars for about 3 1/2 hours until all supplies ran out at approximately 12:45 p.m.
City of Goleta Emergency Services Coordinator Michael Baris said, “Thanks to everyone who came out today. It made all of us here at the City of Goleta happy to be a part of this project. Thanks to the volunteers who spent their Saturday with us.”

Volunteers included Mayor Paula Perotte, Councilmember Kyle Richards, Councilmember James Kyriaco, Goleta City Staff and Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) members.
The City received the COVID-19 test kits from the Santa Barbara County Public Health Department.
Goleta thanks the West Wind Drive-In for providing the space, and also the Food Bank of Santa Barbara County for assisting with logistics.

They should keep track of people who have NOT had covid. It would be a less monumental task.

We’re well over 50% of the US population having had COVID…in fact, as per the CDC models, 40% of the US population will have gotten Omicron by now.
What percentage (do you think) of the US population has had COVID at this point?
Help me understand. Why do people need to test when the bug is already endemic? What is one to do if you test positive? Hibernate for two weeks? Useless.
Whether positive for Covid or sick with a “Normal” flu, people should stay home for their health and that of others. There are many flu variants that rival Covid in severity, such as H1N1. Lost a dear friend to H1N1. At this point, no one appreciates people who go out sick with anything!
Perhaps someone with no knowledge of virology shouldn’t speculate about disease severity, especially given the obvious disparity in death totals.
There have been just over 77 million cases in the US. Just what do you think the population is? You must be using a number from the last century.
JB86 – seriously? Uh, yeah, that’s EXACTLY what you do it you test positive – you avoid others so as to not unnecessarily spread it around, especially to at-risk family members.
Unlike Sarah Palin, decent human beings don’t knowingly waltz about infecting others on purpose. I truly hope that’s not what you’re suggesting.
Do you think every single Covid case has been recorded ? The cdc thinks it’s about 1 in 4… what do you think ?
It’s funny to think that someone believes that all 77 million people who have had Covid have been documented and recorded… it truly blows my mind actually!!! We essentially didn’t test for a whole year! And now we’re testing how many people…? How can you honestly think/believe this??

Hi Duke, I believe the percentage is far higher than model and data show. Given the fact that there are many people with no symptoms who have unknowingly had it. Or the milder omicron version that you may get just thinking you have a cold or allergy without being tested. My uneducated guess would be 60% or greater.
There are also a great number of people who test at home. How do you keep track of all those positives? The answer is, you can’t.
You can guess all you want, but the only data that exist say just over 77 million.
All the data says it’s 3 times that number. The interesting thing is, do you honestly someone believe that every Covid case has been somehow documented?
8:05 – Speculate all you want. It’s worth what we paid for it. Personally, I estimate that the number of cases is at least 5 times the current world population. Just ask anybody. See how that works?
Who could possibly think this way? It makes absolutely no sense! Tens of millions of people with COVID went untested before Omicron…that’s not debatable or questionable, it’s accepted fact. How do you question that???
One could, with just as much evidence, claim hundreds of billions. Who could possibly think that’s wrong? Maybe those who look at the actual data, which says around 70 million in the US.
Riiight. Made up numbers are so convenient. Can you somehow include Dominion Voting Systems in your fantasy?
