There are 5 remaining Covid positive inmates in the NBJ.

Custody staff are working with our Wellpath healthcare partners to monitor and care for the 5 remaining Covid positive inmates. They are rehoused and isolated in a separate housing area. The Sheriff’s Office is also coordinating with the Santa Barbara Court and the Public Defender’s Office to adjust court appearances to prevent the spread of the virus through the movement of inmates. In addition, all staff, contractors, vendors, and others who work in positions having direct inmate contact are regularly tested and required to wear an N95 mask while working.

  1. At this point in the pandemic, years on, what on earth is the purpose of these posts? Are we employing someone in the Sheriff’s department for the purpose of reporting on COVID?? We are so far past that. We don’t need to pay someone to write multi-paragraph jail COVID updates that reiterate how they’re dealing with it, in slightly different wording each time. If you absolutely must, put a basic table on the Sheriff website with a case count. That’s it. It’s that simple. That’s all people “need” to know.
This is a waste of taxpayer money.
