Garage Fire in Santa Ynez

A Santa Ynez resident escaped their home through heavy smoke after a fire sparked in the garage.

At 4:01 p.m., Santa Barbara County firefighters responded to the 3600 Block of Olive Street in the Santa Ynez Valley for a reported structure fire.

Upon arrival, crews found a lot of smoke and heavy fire in the garage. There was no extension into the house but heavy smoke damage to the interior of the home, according to Fire Captain Daniel Bertucelli.

The fire was knocked down and there were no injuries. One resident was evacuated by a neighbor prior to firefighter’s arrival.

Crews are expected to remain on the scene for overhaul and salvage operations.
