Domestic Violence Solutions (DVS) for Santa Barbara County thanks UCSB’s Sigma Alpha Zeta (SAZ) sorority for its valiant efforts in supporting domestic violence survivors in the community and beyond.
On Saturday, March 5, SAZ hosted its 10th Annual Run for Love! Over 90 runners and walkers came together at the UCSB Lagoon Track for a morning of strength, hope, and remembrance.
“Every year, Sigma Alpha Zeta hosts its Run for Love 5k in honor of domestic violence survivors. We hold this event dear to our hearts as we feel it is very important to raise awareness and be a voice for those who feel silenced,” said Amanda Sandoval, Co-Run for Love Coordinator. “Thank you to all who joined our biggest philanthropic event of the year and helped raise funds for Domestic Violence Solutions.”
“The women of Sigma Alpha Zeta hosted an incredible run through the beautiful UCSB campus to raise awareness and educate the UCSB community about intimate partner violence,” said Marilyn Simon-Gersuk, executive director for Domestic Violence Solutions. “With one in three women ages 16-24 experiencing intimate partner violence, reaching this group, while honoring the memory of Alexandra Tang, can save lives and teach peers how to live a life free of violence. We are grateful to the sisterhood of SAZ for their partnership over the last decade and look forward to continuing to work together.”
