Firefighters and first responders from the tri-counties are working together to collect donations for firefighters in Ukraine.
Project Joint Guardian is a nationwide program to send much-needed firefighting and rescue equipment to first responders in Ukraine. Crews from Santa Barbara, San Luis Obispo, Ventura counties and even throughout Southern California, are working together to collect donations.
Santa Barbara City Fire Captain Isaac Siegel spearheaded the effort to collect supplies on the South Coast and quickly, agencies from across the Tri-Counties and beyond stepped up to assist their fire service brothers and sisters in war-torn Ukraine.
Earlier this week, a team of Santa Barbara City, Montecito and Carpinteria-Summerland firefighters traveled to San Diego to pick up supplies from fire departments on their way. They arrived back in Santa Barbara on Wednesday afternoon and delivered the donations to Santa Barbara City Fire’s Training Tower.
The donations will be handed over to Direct Relief International in Goleta who will inventory the items and ship them to Ukraine.
