I think it would be really helpful to start a special fire feature or section on edhat. Since we have at least a fire per day, a fire map would be awesome! This would put all the fire stories in one convenient place. Users could see when and where fires occur every day, and could look back through time to see where previous fires occurred and link to articles/threads about them. This could become a helpful tool for analyzing fire patterns in the community as the data is compiled over time.
CHIP OF SB A really useful idea. Like monitoring earthquakes, except in this case we’d see just how much that “known encampments” of protected individuals are threatening the taxpaying citizens’ homes. How very frustrating to watch it go on, whack-a-mole.
Since the addicted are prone to reckless behavior, it would be wise to provide fire extinguishers at these known encampments. As long as drugs are way too easy to procure , there will remain fire & crime in OUR city. Time to accept facts & realize that there are realistic mitigations ….and for starters, ask the city council to hold the narcotic detectives respons hiible & demand they go after drug dealers. Citizenss deserve transparency, not more non-profits collecting grants & providing generous pay to directors. It’s obvious that the addicts , who become homeless as a result, are being enabled & all the raging comments about them does nothing towards real change
Sounds pretty possible this was in the encampment in the eucalyptus grove. AWARE has a great idea – give the encampments (they’re all known to the PD I’m sure) fire extinguishers. At least provide them with something to help. Again though, the cops NEED to do their job and get out there and patrol these camps more often. Just like they patrol IV and DT during Fiesta, the cops should be patrolling KNOWN areas where criminal activity is taking place.
