Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Detectives have determined the suspicious death in Montecito two months ago is classified as a homicide.
Sheriff’s Deputies responded to the 900 block of Park Lane on the morning of May 27, 2022, for a report of an unresponsive person in a residence. Several days later the autopsy determined the death was unnatural and the investigation continued.
Today, the Sheriff’s Office is releasing the identity of the victim as 96-year-old Violet Evelyn Alberts. As part of the coroner’s investigation, detectives worked to locate a next-of-kin and were unable to find anyone. The case was transferred to the Santa Barbara County Public Administrator’s Office on Thursday.
The cause of death has not been released due to the continuing homicide investigation, said the Sheriff’s Office is a press release.
