Professional tennis player, Kayla Day of Santa Barbara, lost in the second round of the US Open Qualifying Tournament last week.
Day, ranked 211th in the world, started off strong in the first round besting Irina Maria Bara of Italy, ranked 126th, with a 6-1, 6-1 win.
The 22-year-old Day needed three wins to advance to the US Open, which started Monday, August 29.
She played Georgina Garcia Perez of Spain, ranked 124th, this past Thursday. Day lost in three sets to Perez, 4-6, 6-1, 4-6.
Day won one junior Grand Slam title at the 2016 US Open and turned pro a year later at the Australia Open.
