Since 2019, La Cumbre Center for Creative Arts (LCCCA) has been providing space at La Cumbre Plaza for 24 artists including painters, sculptors, photographers, 3D printers and more. Thanks to Mike Cregan, a local Santa Barbara businessman who had the idea to help local artists and energize the community in a way that he had seen walking around New York City. From time to time they have an Art Walk/Reception, most recently on November 18. Here are my photos and videos.
One gallery was devoted to teen artists. I was drawn to the art of Ari Torres, with his paintings of amphibians and reptiles like this.
No local art event is complete without Pali-X Mano. Here he posed with his wife Raven in front of his Sea Anemone inflatable art piece from Solstice.
Diane Stevenett is another star creator from Solstice who has an entire life beyond Solstice as an artist in many different media. Here she posed with her beautiful wood carving sculpture.
Here she posed with some other artists and attendees. You will recognize former Solstice Executive Director Claudia Bratton on the right end.
Here Marlyn Daggett posed with some of her large creations.
Here are a few more samples of art on display, for sale.
The event featured a chance to participate through “Group Painting”
One very special part of this event: The Santa Barbara Opera had a series of live performances featuring Colin Ramsey singing bass and his wife Christina Pezzarossi Ramsey singing mezzo soprano. They radiated such joy and energy with their beautiful voices. Here were clips from three of their classical pieces.
Habanera from Bizet’s “Carmen”
La ci darem la mano, from Mozart’s “Don Giovanni”
Una voce poco fa, from Rossini’s “The Barber of Seville”
And then there was this finale with the popular song “I Get a Kick Out of You”.
The next LCCCA Art Walk will be Friday, the 20th of January 2023 from 5:00 to 8:00 PM.
Holiday shopping season is here. Why not stop by La Cumbre Plaza and choose a local Santa Barbara creation as a unique gift for someone you love. Or just for yourself!
