Emergency responders performed a swift water rescue of two dogs in Goleta’s San Jose Creek Thursday morning.
At 8:32 a.m., Animal Control, Sheriff’s Deputies, and the Santa Barbara County Fire Department’s water rescue team responded to the creek adjacent to S. Kellogg Ave.
The dogs were reportedly stuck in the creek traveling for approximately one mile.
The first dog was rescued with a firefighter on ropes while the second dog required a three person firefighter team who entered the water and escorted the pup downstream to safety.
The County Fire Department states both dogs appear to be uninjured and were reunited with their owner.
“Creeks and rivers continue to be dangerous from the storm event. Please keep distance from all waterways during the rains and higher creek levels,” said Captain Scott Safechuck.

How did they get into the creek? Seems like bad pet ownership. He should be billed for the rescue costs.
