Art at the JCC Presents: Santa Barbara Art Association Exhibit 2017

In partnership with the Santa Barbara Art Association (SBAA), Art at the JCC will host a juried show at the Bronfman Family Jewish Community Center from September 1-October 24, 2017. The show will feature a mix of approximately one hundred works from various genres submitted by SBAA members and selected by Judge Frank Goss, formerly of the reputable Sullivan Goss – An American Gallery.

Frank Goss is a terrific conversationalist. He’s wise and inquisitive, so chats with him are illuminating and entertaining. His basso profondo voice only adds to the enjoyment of listening to him speak.

Thirty years ago, he co-founded Sullivan Goss Gallery with his wife Patricia Sullivan, and it quickly became the premier gallery in Santa Barbara for American artists from the 19th century to today. Formerly under Frank’s leadership, Sullivan Goss hosted about 20 solo shows of contemporary artists and historical exhibitions a year, and with an inventory of more than 3,000 works. It’s the place to go if you want to build a private or public collection. – Courtesy of the SB Independent by Roger Durling.

Founded over 60 years ago, the Santa Barbara Art Association is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization including more than 500 artists who exhibit their original works in diverse media at local venues such as the Faulkner Gallery in the Santa Barbara Public Library and Gallery 113.

The opening reception will be held during Santa Barbara’s 1st Thursday events on Thursday, September 7 from 5:00-8:00 p.m. at the Jewish Federation’s Bronfman Family JCC, 524 Chapala Street.

In addition to showcasing up to 100 pieces by local artists, the reception will offer wine, hors d’oeuvres, and live music by Trudy & Oscar, who will sing Latin, Samba, Bossa Nova, Pop and original songs on guitar. The reception is free and open to all.
