Sally Stewart has been elected for a second term as President of the Transition House Auxiliary. A resident of Santa Barbara for 32 years, she has been a member of the Auxiliary for four years and co-chaired the organization’s 21st Annual Mad Hatter Luncheon fund raiser in 2018. She volunteers for Transition House and Hospice of Santa Barbara.
Other newly-elected board officers include Vice President Florence Michel, Treasurer Anna Ylvisaker, Secretary Diane White, Membership Chair Debbie Branch Geremia, Hospitality Chair Darlene Amundsen, and Publicity Chair Jean Keely.
About Transition House Auxiliary
The Transition House Auxiliary was organized in 1993 to assist by raising funds for on-going programs at Transition House and to provide direct assistance to clients. The members’ work supports homeless children and their families in making successful transitions to housing and financial stability.
The needs of infants and children are of particular interest and concern to Auxiliary members. Funding is provided for special needs in the Infant Care Center at Transition House as well as teens to attend counseling or camp. Each fall, students are provided with backpacks filled with essential school materials to ensure that they begin the school year on an equal footing with their classmates.
The Auxiliary also provides scholarships for study and career development by helping with tuition costs, books, uniforms and special equipment for clients. For families moving from the shelter into apartments, the Auxiliary provides assistance with basic household items.

Transition House (TH) is dedicated to the solution of family homelessness in the Santa Barbara community. Capable and motivated families with children are offered life tools and respectful, non-sectarian residential services designed to alleviate poverty and restore self-sufficiency and dignity. The Auxiliary assists and augments TH services by sponsoring fundraising events and helping to heighten
community awareness and to foster greater understanding of families in crisis.
