Alpha Resource Center of Santa Barbara has announced Joshua Weitzman as its new Executive Director. Mr. Weitzman was appointed to the role after holding the position of Associate Executive Director for the past year and a half, working under Kim Olson, who recently retired after a 40-year career with the organization.
Mr. Weitzman and his wife Jamie were first introduced to Alpha in 2007 when their third daughter was born with Down syndrome. A few years later, they adopted their son, who also has Down syndrome, from Hong Kong. Over the years, their family has become advocates for the mission of Alpha Resource Center; supporting families, creating opportunities and fostering belonging. He brings over 20 years of experience to Alpha from positions with churches and various nonprofits.
“After a few years of succession planning in preparation for the retirement of Kim Olson, we are excited to officially welcome Joshua as Executive Director, and we are confident in his abilities to continue the legacy that Kim worked for 40 years to create,” says Carol Kallman, president of Alpha Resource Center. Mr. Weitzman looks forward to engaging with the community, investing in the amazing staff at the organization, and focusing on the dreams and desires of the participants and families they support. Kallman adds, “He brings a level of passion and dedication that we know will help elevate Alpha to the next level, and I cannot wait to see where we will go under his leadership.”
