6th Annual Santa Barbara Conference Rescheduled for Friday, October 2, 2020

The 6th Annual Santa Barbara Housing Conference has been rescheduled for Friday, October 2, 2020 from 8:30 am to 3:30 pm. The original conference date was Friday, May 1, 2020.

This decision was made by the Coastal Housing Coalition Board of Directors in response to California public health officials’ recent directive to minimize the spread and mitigate the effects of COVID19.

“The Coastal Housing Board and Housing Conference committee know that the health of our community is of utmost importance. We will continue to work hard on this year’s conference, so that in the fall we can bring you the same great programming and speakers as originally intended,” said Board President Olivia Marr.

Santa Barbara County’s only housing conference, presented by the Coastal Housing Coalition, will feature keynote speaker Daniel Walters, an expert on California politics and a featured columnist at calmatters.org as well as many California newspapers. The conference will also include a discussion with state and local policy makers led by the hosts of the popular Gimme Shelter housing podcast, Liam Dillon from the L.A Times and Matt Levin with calmatters.org. Networking opportunities and educational workshops will be offered throughout the day.

Housing Conference Co-Chair Chris Guillen said, “We are very excited about the program we put together for this year’s conference and are grateful for the generous support we received from the many businesses who have committed to sponsoring this event. We look forward to hosting the conference in October and engaging with the community about Santa Barbara’s need for workforce housing.”

Sponsorship opportunities are still available, and existing sponsorships will remain in place for the Friday, October 2, 2020 conference date.

The Coastal Housing Coalition is a nonprofit organization founded in 2005 that is dedicated to finding solutions to the South Coast’s housing crisis and reversing the adverse impacts of the lack of workforce housing is having on our economy, environment, and civic life.
