American Medical Response has promoted Mike Sanders to regional director for Ventura and Santa Barbara Counties. In this role, he will be responsible for operational oversight of the more than 400 professional EMTs, paramedics and support staff at AMR, Gold Coast Ambulance, Lifeline Medical Transport and CALSTAR Air Medical Services who provide air and ground emergency medical services throughout Ventura and Santa Barbara Counties.
“I am honored to be selected as the regional director of our local paramedics, EMTs and CALSTAR team,” Sanders said. “Having started as a field paramedic and worked my way up into this leadership role, I am excited for the opportunity to use my experience to further enhance our very successful EMS system in Ventura and Santa Barbara Counties.”
Sanders brings 20 consecutive years of management experience to his new role. In his prior position as director of operations for Ventura County, Sanders led two local AMR business units. His responsibilities included overseeing the Ventura County EMS contract, monitoring resources to ensure divisional compliance, and directly supervising more than 200 employees. He was also responsible for establishing and maintaining relationships with key players within the system, such as hospital facilities, labor unions, community stakeholders and beyond.
“Mike was selected to lead our operations in Ventura and Santa Barbara Counties because of his experience and proven track record of operational and clinical excellence,” said Mike Rice, AMR’s vice president of operations.
Sanders is an active member of AMR’s Office of Emergency Management team, as well as the Ventura County Prehospital Services Committee, which meets monthly with several key representatives from the local EMS community to review, discuss and implement systemwide EMS policies and changes.
