Santa Barbara Dance Institute Receives Grant to create new intergenerational programs

By SBDI

Santa Barbara Dance Institute (SBDI) receives $50K in grant support from
the California Nonprofit Performing Arts Grant Program to create
new intergenerational programs

SBDI is pleased to announce a new dance program with a particular focus on intergenerational inclusion for all ages, abilities, and families. The purpose of the program is to create meaningful human connections through dance for communities and individuals at every age and stage of life. The program is designed to improve the social and emotional health of families, youth, and elders. Thanks to this new funding source participants of all ages will have access to SBDI dance programming that will stimulate the imagination and strengthen relationships while building a sense of community and well-being.

Since 2005, Santa Barbara Dance Institute (SBDI) has partnered with schools and community centers with little to no art programming to provide vibrant dance education that helps participants develop critical life skills including self-awareness, a deep understanding of culture, self-expression, and connection to others.

At SBDI, we believe that healthy communities require public engagement that supports and embraces their racial, cultural, and socio-economic complexity. Our outreach efforts include families that are lacking in resources for creative programming. If you are interested in programming for your community, please contact us. SBDI also offers professional development programs for those communities they cannot reach directly.

“This new source of funding from the California Non-profit Performing Art grant will help SBDI make our goal of offering intergenerational dance classes a reality.,“ shares Rosalina Macisco, Director of SBDI.

ABOUT SBDI
Founded in 2005, Santa Barbara Dance Institute (SBDI) provides educational dance programs as well as professional development for individuals wanting to incorporate dance into their offerings. SBDI’s inclusive dance programming develops self-awareness, a deep understanding of culture and self-expression, and connection to other human beings. Using SBDI’s core beliefs of connection, community, and the importance of every individual voice, our goal is to see all individuals develop critical life skills, build confidence, and experience the exhilarating feeling of success through dance. SBDI prioritizes providing programs to organizations and individuals without resources or access to arts programming.
