CALM Welcomes Candice Monge, Gisela Rodriguez, and Richard Yao to the Board of Trustees

Candice Monge, Gisela Rodriguez, and Richard Yao have been named to the CALM Board of Trustees. They will be instrumental in furthering CALM’s mission to prevent childhood trauma, heal children and families, and build resilient communities throughout Santa Barbara County.

“We are excited that Candice, Gisela and Rich have joined our Board of Trustees,” said Alana Walczak, CALM President/CEO. “Each brings passion, creativity, and invaluable leadership experience. I am honored to partner with them to advance CALM’s mission throughout Santa Barbara County.”

Candice Monge is the Vice President of Patient Care Services and Chief Nursing Executive Officer for Marian Regional Medical Center (Arroyo Grande and Santa Maria Campuses). Prior to this, she served as the Senior Director for Maternal Child Health Services leading women’s and children’s services and programs and has been a registered nurse for over 16 years. In addition to her healthcare leadership experience, Monge is the mother of four children and enjoys spending time with her family, gardening, cooking, and enjoying the outdoors.

Gisela Rodriguez is a senior manager in Bartlett, Pringle & Wolf, LLP’s tax department and specializes in nonprofit tax returns. She is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) and the California Society of CPAs (CalCPA). Rodriguez graduated cum laude from San Diego State University and is currently working on her Master’s in Taxation at Golden Gate University. In her free time, Gisela likes traveling, hiking, and spending time with her family.

Richard Yao, Ph.D.is the President of California State University Channel Islands (CSUCI). He joined CSUCI in June 2018, where he served as the Vice President for Student Affairs. Early in his clinical career, he worked with individuals with chronic and persistent mental illness, as well as transition aged youth from the foster care system. He also served as a full-time Psychology Lecturer with Nevada State College and their founding Dean of Students. Yao earned a Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from Fielding Graduate University, an M.A. in Clinical Psychology from Eastern Illinois University, and a B.A. in Psychology from Eastern Illinois University.
