The Hill Fire is estimated to now be 1,200 acres with 10% containment, according to Captain Scott Safechuck.
Fixed-wing aircraft have been released and the evacuation warnings remain in place for the areas South of Foothill Road from Castro Canyon to Santa Barbara Canyon.
Firefighters continue working through the evening, said Capt. Safechuck.

Evacuation Warnings Issued as Hill Fire Grows to 632 Acres

Evacuation warnings are now in place as the “Hill Fire” in Cuyama has grown to 632 acres as of 4:30 p.m. Tuesday.
The Sheriff’s Office has issued an EVACUATION WARNING for the area south of Foothill Road, Castro Canyon and east of Castro Canyon through Santa Barbara Canyon due to the Hill Fire.
Be ready to leave at a moment’s notice. Prepare family members, pets and essential items. If you feel threatened at any time, leave immediately.
Do not wait for an alert to evacuate. People with disabilities, access and functional needs should leave now. People with large animals should leave now.

Growing 150 Acre Brush Fire in New Cuyama

Firefighters are on the scene of a growing brush fire near New Cuyama that sparked on Tuesday afternoon.
At 12:11 p.m., Santa Barbara County and Los Padres Forest firefighters responded near Kirschenmenn Road and Foothill, south east of New Cuyama.
The fire was originally estimated to be 75 acres with a moderate rate of spread. Air support including four fixed wing air tankers and three “Type 1” helicopters have been called in to assist.
As of 2:00 p.m., the fire is estimated to be at 150 acres, according to County Fire Captain Scott Safechuck.
