It was an highly anticipated and totally amazing musical evening of Mahler Meets Klezmer. The description of youthful, wild and exhuberent perfectly describes Mahler’s Symphony No. 1 as performed by the Santa Barbara Symphony and Music & Artistic Director Nir Kabaretti. It was a huge body of musicians on stage and they gave a fabulous performance.
The entire audience was captivated by David Krakauer’s energized performance of Wlad Marhulets’ Concerto for Klezmer Clarinet, which refracts traditional Klezmer music through the classical symphonic form. It was a truly unique and captivating sound that brought every guest in the Granada Theatre to their feet for a standing ovation.

A gathering in the Founder’s Lounge in the Granada following the performance, where a bevy of board members, friends, orchestra members and music lovers gathered to share their pleasure and thanks with David Krakauer was delightful and amazing. The brilliant clarinetist performed briefly and then shared his joy at the delightful audience response to the concert. Such a beautiful musical evening!
