The Santa Barbara County Sheriff-Coroner’s Bureau has released the identity of the victim in a fatal traffic collision near Santa Maria last week.
On April 24, Angel Alberto Brambila, 28 from Santa Maria, died in a solo vehicle crash on Highway 1 north of Black Road.
Santa Barbara County firefighters responded to the area and determined Brambila was driving a Ford sedan when it collided with a detached semi-truck trailer that was parked on the side of the road. The sedan was almost completely underneath the trailer.
Brambila was pronounced dead at the scene. The trailer was not occupied.
Heavy extrication was required to retrieve the victim. A local tow-truck company deployed its heavy wrecker vehicle to lift the semi-trailer from sedan.
The incident is under investigation by the California Highway Patrol.
