The National Weather Service (NWS) has issued a “Winter Weather Advisory” for parts of the Central Coast on Thursday and Friday.
The areas within the advisory include the Santa Ynez Mountains, Santa Barbara County Interior Mountains, Ventura County Mountains, San Marcos Pass, Montecito Hills, Big Pine Mountain, and Figueroa Mountain.
“Moderate snow expected. Total snow accumulations of up to 6 inches above 6000 feet, up to 3 inches from 4500 feet to 6000 feet, and up to 1 inch from 3000 feet to 4500 feet. Winds gusting as high as 45 mph,” NWS reports.
The advisory is in effect from 2:00 p.m. Thursday (April 4) to 11:00 p.m. Friday (April 5).
NWS advises travel could be difficult with delays or temporary closures over many mountain roads, including Highway 33 in Ventura County.
This means ordinary winter weather.
Is snow in April in Santa Barbara “ordinary?” I dunno….
