[Monday] night was a lively meeting at Carpinteria City Hall, discussing live music venues in town.
One couple has made repeated complaints this past year about the music being too loud at Island Brewing Company.
While most of the speakers supported the continuation of live music being allowed in town, one speaker criticized the woman who made the complaints for making faces during the City Council Meeting and there was a moment of comic relief when she obliged with another face, seen in this video.
Watching the whole video is instructive regarding the importance of live music venues in Carpinteria.
My favorite part about this couple who has complained 100 times and has caused this chaos, is that they don’t even live here full time. She stated during the meeting they’re part-time residents.
Stephen and Eileen Marcussen. They live in LA.
BOOO, go back to LA and leave Carp alone.
Live music is fine.
Loud music is akin to assault.
What was the end result of this meeting?
The Marcussens got spanked.
“Council members on Monday received a presentation from staff about the current licensing regulations for live music. They then unanimously approved allowances for permanent outdoor live music and removed the rule that a business would have its license revoked after three citations. For now, the council also opted to remove volume and distance limits because they are too difficult to accurately monitor.” noozhawk
