Fire Crews Stop Forward Progress of Two-Acre Brush Fire Near Vandenberg

The Santa Barbara County Fire Department announced the forward progress of the brush fire near Vandenberg Village was stopped at 3:56 p.m.

Crews will remain on scene for mop-up. The cause is under investigation.

Santa Barbara County Firefighters are on the scene of a brush fire near Vandenberg Village in Lompoc. Vandenberg and Lompoc Fire Departments are assisting as well.

At 1:42 p.m. Friday, crews responded to the area of Rucker Road and Calle Lindero. They discovered power lines down in the area with approximately two acres of brush on fire growing at a slow rate of spread.

At 3:15 p.m., Captain Scott Safechuck stated the fire is holding at about two acres as engine companies and hand-crews work to put hose around the fire.

The cause of the fire is under investigation. Updates will be added to this story as they develop.

Vegetation Fire 3900 Rucker Rd. County Fire responding. 6 engines, water tender and Battalion Chief.

Checking to determine the need for another engine and a dozer. All are on the scene.
