It’s March 14, also known as 3/14, and perhaps better known as 3.14 and the beginning numbers of the mathematical constant Pi.
For math enthusiasts, Pi was originally defined as the ratio of a circle’s circumference to its diameter, but it now has various definitions and appears in many formulas in mathematics and physics. Its closest approximate equal is 3.14159.
The number is known as π, the first letter of the Greek word “perimetros,” which loosely translates to “circumference,” according to PiDay.org.
Although, Pi can actually go on forever. The most accurate value for Pi, according to Guinness World Records, is more than 62 trillion digits (62,831,853,071,796 to be precise), calculated in August 2021 by the University of Applied Sciences in Switzerland.

That’s still its definition.

Utter nonsense. 3.141591, 3.141592, 3.141593, and 3.141594 are all closer, with 3.141593 being the closest among those. There is no decimal fraction that is “closest” to pi or any other irrational number.

The decimal expansion of pi *does* “go on forever”, as is true of all irrational numbers.

This is meaningless as stated. It’s the most accurate *decimal expansion* *that has been computed*. A more accurate value is: π, which is exactly equal to “pi”.

π is not “just a number”, and has far more relevance than the stupid commercialism here promoting lousy products for one day.

Personally I’m hoping that Tau day catches on, June 28, since it’s arguably a better constant than Pi.
Fun fact: To calculate the circumference of the known, observable universe to precision of 1 meter you only need about 25 digits of pi.
