Around 3:10 p.m. on Friday there was a serious traffic collision at northbound State Street and Plaza Avenue, just outside of La Cumbre Mall.
The victim was transported to Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital. According to a witness on the scene an employee at a nearby hotel reported the victim lost consciousness after shouting and being struck.
Northbound traffic was more heavily affected and did not reopen until around 5:30 p.m. CSI was on the scene and took many photos plus aerial footage via a quadcopter.
This occurred on 3/8/2024 at around 2:10 PM. If any witnesses saw what happened please contact the SBPD.
4/8? I was in the line of cars. The police guided us to the left into La Cumbre Plaza (across from Best Western). My dash cam didn’t pick up much aside from a green broken “basket” in front of the old people.bus that struck the individual. When we finally made it to Target and subsequently then leaving and driving the opposite direction back home…. they had pressure washed the area. Hope the guy is okay.
They did not power wash the scene , that was the guys green box of Silk milk-alternative spilled out on the asphalt.
I Really, really, hope dude is OK. Be aware people, be ready for anything when in traffic. Stay vigilant.
4/8/24 or 3/8/24???
Gee, which could it be? I sure hope we are able to solve this complicated mystery
Listen anon. internet troll. I’m not the one that wrote the date. That was done by staff. And, it’s a simple correctable error. LMAO
GEO, I’m second anon, it was a joke 🙂 you were clear it was Friday, aka 3/8.
I Understood, the comments are most entertaining. I work hard to improve my delivery. The comments are sometimes constructive and appreciated. As, I don’t have proofreading staff to review the write-up’s. LoL
I hope the guy is OK. Sounds like they took him to the E.R. and right in to the operating room soon after—said a little bird flying by the scene.
Whenever transporting sensitive elderly patients and also possibly those same volatile retired patients, one should likely always have a chaperone onboard to keep them from distracting the driver.
Who knows what really went down, hope they all make it out ok. Everyone be well.
