San Luis Obispo County Sheriff’s Deputies arrested a man suspected of stealing a vehicle, burglarizing a home, and leading deputies on a pursuit.
On Tuesday, Deputies responded to a burglary in the 6700 block of Avila Valley Drive in Avila Beach. A resident had returned home when they found a man inside the residence. The suspect made off with some cash and then fled the home.
A couple hours later, Deputies located the suspect’s vehicle in Paso Robles and attempted to make a traffic stop. The vehicle failed to stop and a short pursuit began.
The vehicle was later located abandoned behind the Target store in the 2300 block of Theatre Drive in Paso Robles.
Deputies, CHP and Paso Police Officers began searching the area for the suspect. The suspect was located in a nearby fast food restaurant and arrested without incident. He is identified as 44-year-old Louis Elvenway Spear.
It was discovered the vehicle he was driving was a 2017 silver Jeep Wrangler that had been reported stolen out of Isla Vista.
Sheriff’s Detectives believe Spear may have been involved in similar crimes in San Luis Obispo and Santa Barbara counties. Anyone with additional information on this or other incidents is asked to contact Sheriff’s Detective Gower Slane at 805-781-4913.
He got 11 years in 2010 for same crime (burglary). Don’t think they’ll just let him out.
