The Santa Barbara Flyfishers are proud to host a one-time screening of the Fly Fishing Film Tour 2024 at 7PM on Tuesday, March 19.
The event will held at the historic the Lobero Theater in Santa Barbara and includes a series of short films featuring amazing fly fishing experiences from around the globe. Attendees will experience wrestling peacock bass in the Amazon, conservation efforts in the Bahamas, a look at growing up with a fly rod in the Pacific Northwest and much more.
Beyond the films, the event is about community connection and conservation. Our community partners: The Mayfly Project (https://themayflyproject.com), Merito Foundation (www.meritofoundation.org), and Casting for Recovery (https://castingforrecovery.org) will be present on the Lobero patio at 5:30 pm to raise awareness of the work they are doing to introduce foster children to fly fishing their local waters, teach conservation to students inside and outside of the classroom, and host fly fishing retreats for women with or recovering from cancer.
Raffles featuring guided fly fishing trips, fly fishing gear, local staycation packages, gift cards and other donations from local businesses will be held. Proceeds will benefit our community partners.
To round out the evening we will have local conservation artists, and father and son duo, Mike and Nate Irwin (www.illuminateconservation.com) present with some of their unique paintings of the critically endangered Southern California Steelhead for sale. Check out their studio in the Funk Zone at 121 Santa Barbara Street.
And thanks to our local sponsor, We Are Airstream Santa Barbara, for helping to make this event possible. Learn more about them at https://www.weareairstreamsuperstore.com.
