Morgan Coffey has joined Explore Ecology as their new Development Director. With an extensive background in environmental advocacy, education, and community engagement, Morgan will contribute a wealth of expertise and enthusiasm to the environmental education nonprofit.
Many know Morgan from her past affiliations and key development roles with organizations such as the Land Trust for Santa Barbara County and Santa Barbara Channelkeeper, where she endeavored to protect our local land and ocean resources. A proven fundraiser, Morgan has collaborated with wide-ranging stakeholders to restore endangered habitats, establish nature preserves, and create memorable outdoor events.
“I continue to be amazed by all the programs we offer at Explore Ecology—we have such inspired staff, volunteers, and donors. And I’m really eager to develop creative collaborations with businesses and organizations that will elevate our community and empower even more kids by combining our ideas and resources. Let’s connect and make good things happen!”
Morgan interned as a UCSB student at the Santa Barbara Museum of Natural History and more recently served on the Channel Islands National Marine Sanctuary Advisory Council. She is currently a board member for Surf Happens Foundation and a volunteer naturalist for the Channel Islands National Park and aboard whale watch and dive vessels for the National Marine Sanctuary.
“We are thrilled to welcome Morgan to the Explore Ecology team,” says Lindsay Johnson, Executive Director at Explore Ecology. “As Explore Ecology continues to expand its work, Morgan’s professionalism and commitment to environmental causes will be invaluable in driving our mission forward.
