An injured hiker and three others were helicoptered off Santa Cruz Island on Saturday.
Around 3:15 p.m., Santa Barbara County Firefighters received a call of a hiker needing urgent medical assistance for a lower extremity injury.
County Fire Captain Scott Safechuck stated a group of three hikers came across a single hiker needing medical attention and called 9-1-1.
Santa Barbara County Air Support Helicopter 964 responded to Santa Cruz Island, located the group of hikers, and used a hoist rescue to bring all four of them onboard the helicopter.
The hikers were transported to Signature Air at the Santa Barbara Airport.
The injured hiker, a male, was subsequently transported by ground ambulance to the emergency room for his injury.
Lucky other hikers stumbled upon him.
