A suspected hit-and-run driver was arrested following a collision on Santa Barbara’s Milpas Street on Sunday.
A traffic collision took place around 6:45 p.m. on January 21 near the intersection of N. Milpas and W. Canon Perdido Streets.
A Toyota Supra was parked in front of Taco Bell when it was struck by a passing vehicle, a Mercedes sedan. The driver of the Toyota was attempting to get into the vehicle right before it was hit, according to the Santa Barbara Police Department.
The victim sustained moderate injuries and was transported to Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital by a ground ambulance for treatment.
The Mercedes sedan left the scene.
When Santa Barbara Police officers responded to the call, they discovered the damaged Mercedes vehicle and its driver around the corner in the 700 block of Spring Street.
The driver, 23-year-old Leslie Hernandez, was arrested for driving under the influence and booked in County Jail with a $100,000 bail.
She’s subsequently been charged by the District Attorney’s office for driving under the influence of alcohol while causing injury; hit and run causing injury or death; resisting arrest; refusing to take a blood-alcohol test; and driving with a blood-alcohol level of 0.15% or greater.
