I found these historic photos of the Santa Barbara Harbor and waterfront areas from an airplane.
Thought they were cool enough to share.

UCSB Library has a great free! website with many historic aerial photos of Santa Barbara, dating from the 1920s to about 2011. (I use it when I am researching homes for my Great House Detective column in the SB Indy.) It’s interesting to see how much has changed, and how much has remained the same over the years in our community. Here’s the link: https://mil.library.ucsb.edu/ap_indexes/FrameFinder/
Wow super cool old photos. Thanks for sharing!!
In the photo showing Stearns Wharf and the harbor, does anyone know what is being depicted in the white rectangular portion of the photo in the lower left and lower right sides?
It looks like the SBCC stadium.
Could lower left be a riding ring? Shows were held at Pershing Park, weren’t they?
I’m not coming up with any history by googling.
“The ‘Fiesta Stock Horse Show’ started as a one-day Saturday afternoon event in 1924 at the old Pershing Park arena on Castillo Street.”
Cool, thanks!
