On Monday evening the Santa Barbara Gay Men’s Chorus cast a spellbinding enchantment over music lovers with their highly anticipated sold-out concert, “A Midwinter Night’s Dream.”
Held at First United Methodist Church in downtown Santa Barbara, the event showcased the talent and diversity of the chorus while spreading a message of inclusivity and love to the Santa Barbara community.
“A Midwinter Night’s Dream” was a captivating production that blended the beauty of holiday classics with a touch of whimsy and creative flair including rainbow fans. The audience was treated to a repertoire that included beloved seasonal songs, musical arrangements, and surprising twists that kept everyone engaged and enthralled.
A unique rendition of “Fa-la-la,” the classic “White Christmas,” and hilarious “Santa Lost a Ho” were just a few of the fantastic performances led by artistic director Timothy Accurso.
The harmonious fusion of voices ranging from tenor to bass, soulful solos, and triumphant choruses, resonated with emotion and talent, leaving the audience captivated from start to finish.
The chorus celebrated the diversity of the LGBTQ+ community and showcased their message of equality and acceptance throughout the performance with chorus members providing spoken words of wisdom between songs. “A Midwinter Night’s Dream” not only delighted the senses but also served as a reminder of the power of music to unite people from all walks of life.
The event concluded with a tribute to millennials featuring “What Dreams are Made of” from The Lizzie McGuire Movie.
