Pedestrian Identified in Fatal Santa Ynez Vehicle Collision

The Santa Barbara County Coroner’s Bureau has releasing the identity of the pedestrian who was struck and killed by a vehicle on Saturday, December 2, on Highway 246 near Via Juana.

The decedent is 59-year-old Michelle Dalton from the Santa Ynez area.

Dalton’s small dog also died in the collision.


Pedestrian and Dog Killed in Santa Ynez Vehicle Collision

A woman and dog were killed by a vehicle on Highway 246 in Santa Ynez early Saturday morning.

At 5:26 a.m., Santa Barbara County firefighters responded to the eastbound lanes of the highway just wast of Via Juana Road near the Chumash Reservation.

An adult female and small dog were struck by a passing vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene, reports the County Fire Department.

Highway 246 was closed for near four hours.

The incident is under investigation by the California Highway Patrol.
